Artist Bothy Goes Digital

We are excited to announce that the Artist Bothy is now being fabricated using a digitally-manufactured building system. In this process sheets of OSB are cut into labelled parts on a CNC machine and assembled by hand into cassettes before being fully insulation and sealed.

This system is used for both the prefabricated and flat-pack version of the Artist Bothy.

The modular cassettes used in the construction process are light-weight, making them perfect for less accessible locations in back gardens or up hillsides, where they can be carried or transported to site by off-road vehicle and assembled by hand. The system is extremely quick to construct, meaning the main structure of the Bothy can now be assembled and made water-tight in a single day, reducing construction time on-site to minimise impact on the landscape and the risk of weather disruption.
