Artist Bothy

Design

Evoking the feeling of a modest vernacular form, the Artist Bothy is detailed and constructed in a robust and contemporary fashion. Its gabled form recalls typical agricultural buildings and allows the bothy to slot inconspicuously into any rural setting, while the precise lines of the corrugated-metal and larch cladding introduce a contemporary edge.

Plans

The Artist Bothy can comfortably accommodate up to 4 people. The internal floor area combined with the mezzanine bed allows for a multifunctional use of the cabin. Meanwhile windows on all aspects provide plenty of natural light. The Artist Bothy has been designed to dimensions that comply with commonly found statutory guidelines.

Customise

Customise your bothy and specify your choice of cladding material and finish. Corrugated or standing seam metal cladding can be powder coated to any colour and timber cladding comes in a variety of wood, profiles and finishes. The interior walls and ceiling can be lined with a range of sheet materials that can be stained or painted. Natural clay plasters also work really well in a bothy context bringing texture and depth. Larger windows can be specified with options for a bi-folding door on the side wall and a larger portrait window on the gable end.

Fittings & Fixtures

We have specified fittings and fixtures from leading brands such as Charnwood stoves and Anglepoise lights for their performance and design. A range of furniture has been designed for the Artist Bothy by Scottish furniture maker, Colin Parker. Each of the items was developed in collaboration with the Bothy Stores team to slot neatly into the interior and complement its handcrafted feel. Owners can choose from a range of products that introduce extra layers of functionality to the space and ensure each bothy is tailored to the specific needs of its users. These include wood burning stove, window shutters and decking.

Services

The Bothy has provision for water and power supply and is fully wired with lighting and socket points. Water, waste and electrical connections will need to be implemented on site. The Bothy has integral surface water drainage with concealed downpipes. These can be routed to a collection point, soakaway, or to existing drainage, depending on the services and ground conditions at the proposed site.
